"Newborns AND Cloth" Tiny Tush Elite mini review and $20 GC #GIVEAWAY {Better Cloth Diapers}

Another diaper my sister received after I had left was a Tiny Tush Elite Mini pocket diaper from Better Cloth Diapers! This is what she received:

Isn't this diaper adorable? It fits babies 4-15 lbs!
Here is a bit more information about this diaper (taken from Better Cloth Diapers' website):
This beautiful, Elite Mini pocket diaper offers a trim, custom fit for babies from 4 to 15 pounds. It’s designed to fit below the umbilical cord to promote better cord healing. Its stay-dry lining will keep baby feeling dry and comfortable. The mini diaper is perfect for a small newborn or a premature baby.

This diaper features a 9” by 12” foldable micro fiber insert that is designed to wash cleaner and dry faster (we know time is of the essence with a newborn). Because you can wash and dry these diapers so quickly, you may find that you will want to wash diapers more frequently allowing you to purchase fewer of these mini diapers.

The Elite Mini’s snap closures have cross over snaps to offer a perfect fit for the tiniest of babies; and the Aplix closure comes with fold back tabs which holds the tabs securely while laundering. And once your baby grows out of the Elite Mini, baby will be ready for the Elite one-size diaper. (The Elite Mini looks and functions just like the Elite one-size - only smaller!).

Your baby’s safety is our first priority. All materials are CPSIA compliant - meaning lead-free, Phthalate-free, PVC-free. Featuring medical grade waterproofing, the Elite Mini can safely be washed and dried at hot temperatures.

And the icing on the cake is that these diapers are so cute you will not want to give them away to friends – you’ll want to save them for your own next child OR save them for your child’s baby doll (yes, we have heard this from our customers!).

Better Cloth Diapers not only sells cloth diapers and accessories, but they also offer a wide range of breastfeeding supplies!

Here is a picture of the tiny tush elite mini on the largest and smallest settings:

Super cute!
My sister loves this diaper. She told me that it is super easy to use and she had not trouble finding the right size setting for Ezra!
Here is Ezra in this diaper:
Here is another pic of it on Ezra:
*I think he was getting a bit tired of modelling that day*
My sister told me that she used this diaper on Ezra both during the day and at night with no problems. His bowels were contained and there were no leaks!
This is one of her favorite diapers in her newborn stash!
You can purchase a Tiny Tush Elite mini pocket diaper from Better Cloth Diapers for $14.95!

"Newborns AND Cloth" Nifty Nappy Soap Nuts review and Nifty Nappy Sheep-in-a-Jar Lanolizing Potion #9 review and #GIVEAWAY

The talk of the town around here (aside from #clothdiapers) is wool!
Just today I posted a review of Sloomb's wool longies and their fabulous snappless-fitted multi diaper!
But how do you care for that wool?
It's unlike any other item in your cloth diapering stash, but an item I guarantee you will reach for time after time!
Wool needs to be lanolized before it becomes waterproofed!
Nifty Nappy has a great video on their website for lanolizing wool, you can find it here!

Vilate (of Nifty Nappy) recently sent me two of her own products for review. I was sent a 4 oz jar of her liquid Nifty soap nuts and a 4 oz jar of her Sheep-in-a-jar lanolizing potion #9 for review!
This is what I received (sorry about the blurry picture)!
Here are the easy-to-follow instructions for using the liquid Nifty soap nuts:
I washed my Aristocrats wool cover with the liquid Nifty soap nuts and they came out really clean and nice!
Then I lanolized them using the Potion #9!
Here are the instructions for using the Potion #9:
Here is what I did. First put 1 tsp. of the potion #9 in a cup, jar or Pyrex measuring cup:
Then you get a large bowl or other container and fill it with warm (not hot) water!
Then you put really hot water into the measuring cup containing the potion #9:

Stir it up and then stir it into your container of warm water:
Then add your woolies! I usually lanolize my wool covers inside out, so that way the lanolin gets to the inside of the cover, but you can do it either way:
When you add your cover to the mixture you want to be sure to gently squeeze it to ensure the lanolin gets into the fibers of the wool!

This potion is really nice and so easy to use!
You can purchase this "Nifty Nappy Sheep in a jar lanolizing potion #9" from Nifty Nappy's facebook page... retails for $15.00 or you can enter to win one here!
As a sponsor of the Newborns AND Cloth event, Vilate has graciously offered one LWML follower a chance to win a jar of Nifty Nappy Sheep-in-a-Jar Lanolizing Potion #9!!!

"Newborns AND Cloth" Sloomb Sustainablebabyish review and $50 GC #GIVEAWAY {Open world wide}

I am totally in love with Sloomb (aka Sustainablebabyish)!
I have tried their organic fitted diapers and their wool covers (knit covers and longies) on both of my boys! You can read my review of the knit cover here, and my review of the organic fitted diaper and wool longies here!
I was super excited when Erin told me she was going to sponsor this event! I really wanted to see how Sloomb would fit on Ezra and how well it works for newborns!
Erin graciously sent my sister a pair of xs wool longies in 'squash' and a snapless multi fitted diaper for review!
This is what she received:
The order arrived at my sister's house when I had already flown home, so I was not able to try these out on Ezra myself... but that was okay with me because I can tell you first hand how awesome Sloomb products are and that they are VERY well made!
Another thing I can say about Sloomb is that Erin really values her customers and she goes above and beyond to help them get what they need want! Erin stands behind her products 100% and works very hard to keep the Sloomb brand untarnished!
The snapless diaper was a tad bit big on Ezra, but after all, he is a newborn baby. The snapless multi diapers are made to fit babies from 10-35 lbs! My sister told me that she had no problems getting it on him (though it was a bit big, and requires a pin or snappi).
Notice that the longies are a bit long, but the top could be folded down and the longies pulled up to remedy that!
These longies are so soft and cozy! Especially for the winter months!
Here is a bit more information about the snapless-multi fitted diaper (taken from Sloomb's website):

"The first multi-size cloth diaper from sustainablebabyish. heavy organic bamboo|cotton terry body with turned and topstitched leg elastic. includes two 3-layer organic bamboo fleece doublers for adjustable absorbency & one diaper pin. add more doublers for additional layers.

Pin or Snappi® friendly. Snappi® fasteners are now available under Accessories. Snapless-multi fitteds work very well with either option.

the sustainablebabyish snapless-multi is based on the pattern for our best selling bamboo fleece night time fitteds. slightly trimmer body & longer wings allow securing with one pin & fast diaper changes. the same fit you have come to love, now in a multi-size, snapless version, with adjustable absorbency & comfortable T&T leg casings. fold the front down for a shorter rise.

weight range approximately 10-35 lbs

This fitted cloth diaper requires a cover. pair with sustainablebabyish wool for a leak free combination."

The wool longies fit Ezra perfectly! Here is a bit more information about Sloomb longies (taken from Sloomb's website):

"soft, stretchy, durable, & ultra absorbent.

a year-round, day & night essential for cloth diapering.

sustainablebabyish longies are made from öko-tex certified wool yarns and are double-layer knit, making them breathable, soft, and comfortable–perfect for cloth diapered children from newborns to toddlers. sustainablebabyish knit wool longies work well with one-size diapers, prefolds, and all sustainablebabyish fitteds, flats, and snapless-multi diapers.

content: 93% wool | 7% lycra.
care: hand wash, lanolize, lay flat to dry – do not machine wash.
öko-tex certified wool yarns & dye, made in a socially and environmentally responsible knit house in China.

the sustainablebabyish knits line is in the one diaper-one tree program. the hang tags are made of plantable, wildflower, recycled stock – when you are done with the tag plant in potting soil or your garden, add water, & watch your flowers grow.

What makes Sloomb wool different?
•Sustainablebabyish knits are the softest machine knit wool in the industry
•All knits are double layer throughout for a natural, breathable, and bulletproof solution for year-round use
•Wool is an economical choice - only 3-4 wool covers are needed to successfully cloth diaper and generally need to be washed once every few weeks
•Longies keep little legs legs protected and are extremely durable for everyday use by active children
•Longies are used as both a diaper cover and pants, no extra cover is needed, making cloth diapering easy and convenient
•Beautiful and rich colors from environmentally friendly dyes and dyeing methods that meet the industry's highest standards, thereby ensuring the correct criteria for color stability, color fastness and the use of non-toxic additives
•Our commitment to using wool that is farmed practicing ecologically sustainable methods

•Our wool is spun and dyed in GOTS, Öko-Tex, and ISO 9001:2000 certified facilities that meet the highest standards of quality, environmental protection and cultural and social commitment
•Plantable hangtags = no waste packaging"

I really really love sloomb! I can tell you from experience that if you have a heavy wetter then using a fitted diaper and wool cover will keep him/her dry at night!
This is the only combination I could use on my 3 yo (when he was still in diapers, just before being potty trained) that would keep him dry at night!
Longies need to be lanolized before use... Sloomb has a great section on their website that goes into great detail explaining how to care for all Sloomb products!
Here are a few more pictures of Sloomb products... just to whet your appetite!
Are you in love yet????

You can purchase the wool longies from Sloomb for $64.95 and the snapless-multi fitteds for $20.95!Those prices may seem a bit high, but I promise you that it is well worth every penny!
If you are new to Sloomb and are going to purchase a product from them, can you please let them know that I sent you and once you've placed your order, fill out this form HERE! I would be grateful... they have an excellent referral program!!

But wait, there's more!

"Newborns AND Cloth" Swaddlebees Mini Nappi review and #GIVEAWAY {Cloth Diapers Inc.}

So many diapers, so little time!
I was so excited when Cloth Diapers Inc. told me they would like to sponsor this event and send my sister a Swaddlebees mini nappi to try on Ezra! I just wish I would have been there to see it in person!
This is what she received:
Here is a picture of the inside of the diaper (which is made of organic cotton velour) and the organic cotton and bamboo insert:
Here is some information about this amazing diaper (taken from Cloth Diaper Inc.'s website):

For newborns and babies up to 15 lbs. It's a 2-part diaper system that allows you to use it either as a pocket diaper by inserting the included insert inside the pocket opening, or as an all-in-2 diaper by laying the insert on top of the diaper. It is made with a waterproof outer layer of PUL and an inner layer of organic cotton velour. It comes with an insert made with organic cotton and bamboo.

Its unique snap settings gives you 3 different sizes and allows you to adjust the size for a newborn and babies up to 15 lbs.

Before using the diapers: wash and dry your diaper once in hot or warm water prior to first use. This causes the fibers to shrink, fluff up and become more absorbent. It is not necessary to wash more than once before using the diaper for the first time. The inserts will shrink and get thicker with the first few washes. This shrinkage has been allowed for when designing the inserts.

My sister loves this diaper. She says it is so soft and that the insert is very absorbent. She says it fits Ezra perfectly! *he is now about 9.5 lbs*!
Here is this amazing diaper on Ezra:
Just look at those little thigh rolls! Love them!
Here is another pic of the diaper on Ezra!
He is so stinkin' cute (if I do say so myself)!
This is a great diaper and is perfect for daytime or nighttime use!
You can purchase the Swaddlebees Mini Nappi from Cloth Diapers Inc. for $21.95! Did I also mention that they offer free US Shipping? From now until midnight on the 28th (today), Cloth Diapers Inc. is having a sale! You can take 10% off storewide! Some items are excluded though so make sure you read the fine print!

As a sponsor of the Newborns AND Cloth event, Cloth Diapers Inc. has graciously offered one LWML follower a chance to win a Swaddlebees Mini Nappi in winner’s choice of color (subject to what is available in stock)!

"Newborns AND Cloth" 'Diapering Today: The Basics and More' dvd review and the Waterproof Willowpad review and #GIVEAWAY {The Willow Store}

I really like the Willow Store! It was started by Catherine Bolden. She believes that all things will return to the earth and that all things are reusable. The Willow Store offers many earth-friendly, reusable items such as cloth diapers, wool dryer balls, feminine pads, forever cloths, training pants, reusable bags, pillows, and blankets!
Catherine recently released a dvd called Diapering Today: The Basics and More.
Catherine graciously sent me a copy of the dvd and a leak-proof willowpad for review.
This is what I received:
Here is the bottom of the box that the pad came in:
What do you read? Organic, made in the USA??? This gets my vote :)

The dvd is a must have for anyone expecting a baby! Moms, dads, grandparents and care-givers!
The dvd gives reasons many parents have decided to cloth diaper their babies.
The chapters covered in this dvd are as follows:
1. Why cloth
2. How to use diapers
3. Types of cloth diapers
4. Getting started
5. Washing
6. Tips and tricks
7. Accessories
8. Potty training
9. Cloth is for everyone
10. Cloth on a budget
11. Resources
12. The evolution of diapers
13. Terms
14. Credits

You can watch the official trailer to this dvd here!
You can view the "Why Cloth? Convenience!" portion of the dvd here!
This dvd is a must-have! If you are considering using cloth diapers but have second thoughts because every time you think of cloth images of pins and plastic pants dance around in your head, then you NEED to watch this video!
Cloth diapering is really much simpler than some make it out to be!
I LOVE it! I love cloth so much that I have totally made the switch to using cloth in most areas of my life. I not only cloth diaper, but I use mama cloth as well! Yes, thats right.... reusable feminine pads!
You still reading?
I tried the leak-proof willowpad that was sent to me and I must say I am really impressed. I frequently use charlie banana and fuzzi bunz pads, but I found the willowpad to be super soft and comfortable (my guess is that its because its made with organic fibers)!
The willowpad washes up really well also!
I had no problems with leaks while using the willowpad, in fact, it just may be my new favorite!

You can purchase the willowpad from The Willow Store for just $9.95
You can also purchase a copy of Diapering Today for $17.95!

As a sponsor of the Newborns AND Cloth event, The Willow Store has graciously offered a giveaway for each item I reviewed. One LWML follower will receive a leak-proof Willowpad in choice of color AND a copy of the dvd Diapering Today!

To enter, simply use the rafflecopter form below, you may have to click on "read more" to see the rafflecopter entry form!

Good Luck and have fun!

"Newborns AND Cloth" Red Barn Clothdiapers (Nifty Nappy) Bitty Bum review and #GIVEAWAY {US and Canada}

When I came back from Oregon after visiting with my family, my sister Marla was still receiving packages in the mail of items sponsored for review!
One of the things she received was a Bitty Bum (Nifty Nappy) Cloth diaper from Red Barn Cloth Diapers. Red Barn Cloth Diapers is run by Jeni, who calls herself *and I quote* "A Nifty Nappy Needlewoman" *love it*! She is an Official Licensee for the Nifty Nappy Cottage License! So yes, she is licensed to make and sell Nifty Nappy Diapers!
Jeni graciously sent my sister a Nifty Nappy Bitty Bum to try on Ezra!
This is what she received:
This is the inside of the diaper with the insert:
This diaper is very well made! It is very soft and very easy to use!
Here is a bit of information about the Bitty Bum (taken from the Nifty Nappy website):

We want to welcome our newest bitty addition to the Nifty Nappy™ family. The Bitty Bums is the perfect fit for a newborn. In fact with the folding technique we use it will fit a preemie. This little fitted sure looks a lot like its’ bigger sibling the Nifty Nappy™. It has the same snap layout, the same fabric make-up and even a mini version of the lay-in insert. This is the perfect diaper to take to the hospital and use from day one!
• Designed like the Nifty Nappy™ so it fits under the umbilical cord
• This will be the cutest diaper in the hospital
• Made with natural materials
• Hidden elastics for ultimate containment and comfort
• Overlapping front snap for custom fit
• Breathability will help eliminate unwanted diaper rashes

Here is the diaper on my little Ezra!
Oh, and one more:
Isn't he so stinkin' cute?
Just look at that pattern! Love it!
This diaper is not waterproof and does require a cover! No worries there though, Red Barn Cloth Diapers also makes Nifty Nappy woolie wraps which are a one size wool cover and also the Nifty Nappy Weensy woolies which is designed for newborns (birth to about 15 lbs)!
Are you unfamiliar with fitted diapers and wool covers?
The Nifty Nappy website has a great page choc-full of great information on how to use them! There are video tutorials and picture tutorials which are great!
I love this diaper (and so does my sister and Ezra too)!
It is perfect for day or night and (as I have found out through trial and error) fitted diapers and wool covers are the ONLY thing I trust at night for my heavy wetter!
You can purchase this diaper from Red Barn Cloth Diapers for $22.50 or from one of Red Barn Cloth Diapers' retailers which can be found HERE *there are a bunch of available fabric options too, just click here to see them all*

"Newborns AND Cloth" Moby Wrap Review and #GIVEAWAY {Lil Roo's} US and Canada

Many of you know that I love to wear my babies! I have tried an Ergo, Boba and now a Moby thanks to Kelli at Lil Roos! Here is a bit more about Lil' Roo's (taken from their website):
"We are a Michigan based company specializing in Baby Carriers. Currently we feature Action Baby Carrier, Moby Wrap and Wrap n' Wear.

If you have a newborn, toddler or just new to baby wearing we have every kind of baby carrier you will need to enjoy the outdoors, clean the house or just bond with your little one, here at Lil Roo's.

Our goal at Lil Roos is to offer unique, comfortable, stylish baby carriers for the most precious time with you and your little one, bonding time."

She graciously sent me a Chocolate Moby wrap for review!
This is what I received:

It is such a beautiful wrap! I was so impressed at how soft the fabric is!
The wrap comes with some simple, easy to read instructions on how to use the Moby:

The website also offers some great instructional videos on how to use this carrier!
You can view the videos here!
I put my 22 month old in the Moby and he loved it!
He was a bit squirmy at first but after walking around a bit with him, he settled right down!
Isn't he a doll *swoon*
I totally intended to get a picture of my sister carrying Ezra in her Moby while I was visiting her in Oregon... but with 3 kids under the age of 3, a newborn, a sleep-deprived mommy and daddy it just didn't happen!

Here are some other great pictures of parents using the Moby:

Here is a bit more information about the Moby wrap (taken from Lil Roos Website):
Moby Wraps are the optimal baby carrier for infants. Parents of newborns have found that skin-to-skin contact with their infants, which can be easily achieved while wearing a Moby Wrap, leads to faster regaining of birth weight. Moby Wraps do not put a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. This allows your baby to hear your heartbeat and find comfort in the warmth of your body within the cuddly confines of a Moby Wrap.
One size fits all.
The Moby Wrap can hold newborns up to 35 pounds comfortably.

I (regretfully) never wore either of my boys when they were newborns! In fact, I didn't get my first carrier (the Ergo) until my youngest was about 9 months old! How I wish I would have known about all the benefits to both mom and baby that occur as a result to baby wearing!
Read what the La Leche League International has to say about baby wearing here.
Dr. Sears also weighs in on baby wearing (you can read about that here)!
Lastly I found a great article from the "Baby wearing International" website describing the benefits of baby wearing!

So what are you waiting for?
I am waiting to get pregnant again so I can fully use the Moby with a newborn! I can't wait!!

As a sponsor of the Newborns AND Cloth event, Kelli has graciously offered one LWML follower a chance to win a Moby wrap (in solid color subject to stock availability) of their own!

This giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents! A winning Canadian resident will have to pay $8.00 shipping to Lil Roos!
To enter, simply use the rafflecopter form below, you may have to click on "read more" to see the rafflecopter entry form!

Good Luck and have fun!
